EFD earns Life Safety Achievement Award City's Fire Department Recognized for Fire Education, Prevention
EPHRATA (OCT. 19, 2008) — Safety education and fire prevention is paying off for the City’s fire department.
For the seventh year straight, the Ephrata Fire Department has received national attention for having no house fire-related deaths in the City. By doing so, the EFD earned the Life Safety Achievement Award from the Residential Fire Safety Institute and the National Association of State Fire Marshals.
The EFD was one of 745 fire departments across the United States to receive the award.
“The award recognizes that the best way to prevent fire deaths is to offer proactive public education classes for children and adults,” said EFD Public Educator Kelley Wolther. “That’s a cause that we’re particularly dedicated to, which makes this award an even greater honor.”
