Funding Available For Tourism Events.
Ephrata, WA – February 5, 2010 – Applications for funding by the Ephrata Lodging Tax Advisory Committee are available at Ephrata City Hall or by downloading them from the city’s website.
The Ephrata Tourism Commission will support those non-profit agencies or organizations that show a demonstrated need and ability to promote tourism within the greater Ephrata area. Historically, agencies receiving funds must use the money strictly for tourism promotion as defined by RCW 67.28. A change made by the legislature in 2007 now allows the money to be used for special event and festival expenses, however, requires specific reporting and data gathering for any such use to show the money is being properly utilized within the spirit that the tax was initially intended. Those utilizing the funds for such expenses will be required to provide this information.
The committee will fund as many projects as their annual resources allow. Revenues generated from the local hotel/motel tax determine the budgeted award amount.
Completed applications are due to Ephrata City Hall by 4:30 PM, Friday, March 5, 2009. Applications are available at Ephrata City Hall or can be downloaded from the city website, www.ephrata.org/260.html.
