DEPUTY FIRE CHIEF
Job Announcement
 

The City of Ephrata is accepting applications for a full-time Deputy Fire Chief. This position is established to provide a highly responsible officer to assist the Fire Chief in the administration and supervision of the Ephrata Fire Department. The major emphasis of this position shall be facilities/equipment maintenance, training, fire inspections, pre-fire plans and fire investigation. This position will be an exempt status (Non-Bargaining)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Demonstrate a legal right to work in the United States
Valid Washington State Driver
Ability to pass background check, pre-employment and on-going drug screenings
Ability to pass Civil Service examination
Minimum 21 years of age
Have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Not been convicted of a job related crime or released from prison within the last 10 years
Ability to read and write the English language
Possess a Washington State EMT-B or higher certification at time of hire

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Have accredited classes on fire codes, building codes and enforcement
Have accredited classes on Incident Command Systems or sufficient training
Have Basic Firefighting certification or sufficient training
Possess or able to obtain by time of hire, a valid Washington State Driver with certification of Emergency Vehicle Accident Prevention Program (EVAP) without record of suspension or revocation in any state.
Ability to meet Department physical standards
Required to reside within a seven mile radius of the headquarters fire station

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITY/SKILLS:

Ability to meet and deal with the public in a courteous and professional manner and promote a positive image of the Ephrata Fire Department.

Must possess leadership and communication skills to effectively work with other employees, supervisors and the public.

Thorough knowledge of modern fire suppression, prevention and emergency medical services principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment; Working knowledge of first aid and resuscitation techniques and their application as demonstrated through State EMT-B Certification; Considerable knowledge of applicable laws, ordinances, departmental policy and procedures and regulations.

Skill in the operation of required tools and equipment used.

Ability to train and supervise subordinate personnel; Ability to perform work requiring good physical condition; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in

writing; Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions; Ability to effectively give and receive verbal and written instructions.

SALARY: $45,000 - $50,000 depending on experience, plus full benefits.

Job Title: POLICE OFFICER - ENTRY/LATERAL
Salary Range: $3,992. - $4,595.
Open Period Ends: Continuous Process
Location: Ephrata Police Department

Description:

 

ENTRY LEVEL POSITION:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Citizen of the United States
  • Must be 21 years of age at the time of appointment
  • Possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Physically able to meet minimum physical qualifications
  • Able to read and write the English language

 

LATERAL POSITION INFORMATION:

 

Preferred Background:

  • Two (2) years continuous law enforcement experience.

Minimum Background:

 

·       Currently employed as a full-time police officer with 

      public law enforcement.

·        Must be working in a job classification the same or

      similar to the position applied for.

·       Must have successfully graduated from the Washington

      State Law Enforcement Academy or meet WACJT

      standards for equivalency.

·      Able to meet medical standards for LEOFF  Retirement

      System.
