Impounded Stray Dogs

If the Ephrata Police Department has any stray dogs held in impound, the dog's information will appear below. If no owner is found within 72 hours, an impounded dog becomes available for adoption through the rescue it is released to. If the dog's owner is identified, the dog will be kept for 96 hours after the initial attempt to contact the owner before being released to a rescue.

Contact:  If you believe a pet may be yours, please call the EPD Business Office (M-F 8-4:00) to claim him/her at 754-2491.

Impound/Boarding Fees: An impound/boarding fee will need to be paid for the animal to be released. The impound fee increases each time a pet from your household is picked up. The first fee begins once the dog is processed into the Ephrata Dog Pound, then once per day (0000-2359) until the dog is claimed. The impound fee is per dog per day.

1st Impound:       $16.00 per day
2nd Impound:     $27.00 per day
3rd Impound:     $38.00 per day

Licensing: If the dog is not licensed already, you will need to license the animal within 14 days of the dog being released. At the time of licensing a dog, the owner will need to provide a current certificate of rabies vaccination and pay the current license fee. You can find more information about Licensing
