CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS UPDATE 9/24/2021

Nine weeks in with no major disruptions or issues - knock on wood!

The planned work through September into the first part of October is as follows:

  • Swanson Addition - Construction between Park Place and Pioneer Street SE is complete. Prep work for asphalt patching week of October 4th.  Paving is scheduled for the week of October 11th.
  • Crest Drive/D St SE - Continued construction work in the alley between Crest Drive and D Street SE. Expect continued alley restrictions and closure for the next 2 weeks.  Prep work for asphalt patching will begin for paving the week of October 11th.
  • 15th Ave SW to 18th Ave SW - Continued construction work in the alley between C Street SW and Basin Street from 15th Avenue SW to 18th Avenue SW for the next two weeks. Prep work for asphalt patching will begin for paving the week of October 11th.
  • Peachtree Drive - Prep work for asphalt patching week of October 4th. Paving is scheduled for the week of October 11th.
  • Alley west of Courthouse - Contractor will commence construction in the alley west of the courthouse from Division West to 1st Avenue NW the later part of the week - week of September 27th.
  • Alley east of L St NE - The Grant County PUD will be blocking some of the alley access  from Division Avenue East to 1st Avenue NE.  They will be consolidating power and fiber lines to reduce the impact of the sewer line replacement in this area.  They are tentatively scheduled to begin the 27th of September.  Restrictions could last as long as two weeks dependent upon what difficulties, if any, they encounter.

Streets which require asphalt patching will be done at the same time, tentatively scheduled for the week of October 11th, and alleys will be repaired with original material.

TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON PIPE AVAILABILITY AND ANY UNFORSEEN UNDERGROUND IMPACTS

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Construction will impact (halt) travel in alleys and roadways, and cause some driveway access restrictions. To prepare, please be aware of any Items you store/park In the alley that will need to be temporarily relocated.   You may have to detour around active construction zones.
  • This WILL have an impact on garbage pick-up. If construction has your alley blocked move your garbage can to the street making sure it is accessible to the garbage truck.
  • Construction will be loud and potentially dusty. The contractor will do their best to control.
  • Some work may be performed at night when the sewer flow is at its lowest level.
  • You may be notified by the contractor of interruptions in sewer service in your area or restrictions to the alley or driveway. They will be doing their best to minimize this time but it is inevitable.

On behalf of the Mayor, City Council and staff, "Thank You" for your patience during this construction project.
