SEWER COLLECTION PROJECT UPDATE 10/15/2021

We are now twelve weeks into construction and the temperature and leaves are starting to drop which can put a damper on the progress of construction…especially the paving portion.

The planned work for the rest of October into November is as follows:

  • Crest Drive/D St SE - Construction work is expected to be completed by October 21st. Paving will be at a later date to be determined by weather and asphalt availability.
  • 15th Ave SW to 18th Ave SW - Asphalt patching has been rescheduled for the week of October 18th.
  • Peachtree Drive - Asphalt patching has been rescheduled for the week of October 18th.
  • Alley west of Courthouse - Mainline from Division West to 1st Avenue NW is being replaced and services reconnected. Expect this work to be competed the week of October 18th.  Paving will be at a later date to be determined by weather and asphalt availability.
  • Alley east of L St NE - The Grant County PUD has completed consolidating power and fiber lines to reduce the impact of the sewer line replacement in this area.  It is anticipated that the sewer construction work will not begin for several more weeks in this area.
  • Cyrus Road from 1st Ave NW (before canal) - Work is scheduled to commence on October 18th.  In an effort to minimize traffic disruption, expect long work hours into the night.  There will be a gravel route around the work area to allow Cyrus traffic flow to continue.  1st Avenue NW traffic will be shifted north with flaggers as necessary.

Paving has been affected by COVID limitations and the availability of asphalt.

TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON PIPE AVAILABILITY AND ANY UNFORSEEN UNDERGROUND IMPACTS

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Construction will impact (halt) travel in alleys and roadways, and cause some driveway access restrictions. To prepare, please be aware of any Items you store/park In the alley that will need to be temporarily relocated.   You may have to detour around active construction zones.
  • This WILL have an impact on garbage pick-up. If construction has your alley blocked move your garbage can to the street making sure it is accessible to the garbage truck.
  • Construction will be loud and potentially dusty. The contractor will do their best to control.
  • Some work may be performed at night when the sewer flow is at its lowest level.
  • You may be notified by the contractor of interruptions in sewer service in your area or restrictions to the alley or driveway. They will be doing their best to minimize this time but it is inevitable.

On behalf of the Mayor, City Council and staff, "Thank You" for your patience during this construction project.
